Higg FEM 2025 Resources
Higg FEM 2025 will launch on November 6 with annual updates to energy and emissions calculations, improving data quality and alignment with industry and global models.
While comparability with Higg FEM 2024 data may be slightly affected for some energy sources (e.g. district heating, chilled water, biomass), impacts are expected to be minor. Updates affecting comparability include:
- Emission factors were changed based on improved modelling and sources for chilled water, district heating, fabric waste, liquified petroleum gasses/propane, petrol, renewables of unknown source, and purchased steam.
- The models for energy intensity of the district heating and chilled water energy sources have changed to better align with industry and global models.
- Where a Higg FEM reports the mix of biomass fuel sources, those figures are now used to calculate the emission factor of biomass usage.
Cascale does not recommend re-baselining; instead, you should communicate year-over-year differences in your external reporting based on the percentage change calculation on the platform.
